The Thunder Bay & District Humane Society is a 100% not-for-profit established as a corporation in 1994; We do not receive any government funding and rely solely on donations, fundraising, and adoption income.
We are dedicated to providing care and shelter to animals in need.

About Us

The Thunder Bay & District Humane Society is a 100% not-for-profit established as a corporation in 1994; We do not receive any government funding and rely solely on donations, fundraising and adoption income.
We are an affiliate of the Ontario SPCA (Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) www.ospca.ca. This allows us to offer humane education in the schools as well as educate the general public on animal welfare. We are also, registered with the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies and the Humane Alliance.
We are dedicated to providing care and shelter to animals in need.

Strays
Our jurisdiction is outside of city limits (some municipalities have contracts with Animal Services).
Our Municipality Contracts are:
Atikokan
Greenstone
Nipigon
Red Rock
Strays found within city limits are to be brought to
Animal Services on Alloy Place
Animal Surrender
We can take small animals (ex. Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, Domesticated Birds, Reptiles), cats, dogs.
Unfortunately, animals we are unable to accept are:
Feral Cats
Aggressive Dogs (ex. a bite history with humans)
Wildlife
We are an adoption guaranteed shelter!

Freedom from discomfort
